Né le 15 juin 1922, John Arthur « Jaki » Byard était un multi-instrumentiste, compositeur et arrangeur de jazz américain. Pianiste avant tout, il jouait également du saxophone ténor et alto, entre autres instruments. Il était réputé pour son style éclectique, intégrant des influences allant du ragtime et du stride au free jazz.
